Laurence and Amy are up against couples from Brighton and Haywards Heath.

They launched their bid this week with a marathon of fund raising events, starting on Monday 22 with a gruelling run.

They followed this up, on Tuesday, with a chilli eating competition at Combe Haven Holiday Park.

On Wednesday they held a day-long cake sale and also organised a charity pyjama and onesie walk along Eastbourne seafront.

On Thursday the couple held a Quiz Night at Elphinstone Sports and Social Club.

On Friday 26 they are making tea and selling cakes at Combe Haven Park and aim to hold a roller disco with £5 entry.

Their efforts continue this weekend with a Teddy Bear’s Picnic and a raffle and auction of promises at Bar Moda, in Hastings, on Saturday at 8.30pm. Laurence will end the night by having a wax. There is no rest for the couple on Sunday 28 with a men v women five-a-side charity football tournament at Combe Haven. They will end the day both being gunged in custard.

As well as the organised events they have been wearing wedding attire throughout the fund raising week and holding fun competitions such as guess the number of sweets in a jar.

Laurence said: “We met four years ago. Amy and I work together at Combe Haven Holiday park and Amy is studying to become a counsellor in her spare time.

We got engaged last Valentine’s Day (2015) and have wanted to be married since we met.

After we marry we are waiting to have our family and can’t wait to start our new life together possibly through this amazing fundraising event.

“We want to raise as much money as we can for this great charity which helps children across Sussex.”
