COURT RESULTS: Round-up of cases from 1066 Country

The following are court results for the Observer area from Hastings Magistrates' Court from November 21 - November 28.

November 21:

Iain Swann (aged 29), of Clifton Court, Hastings, pleaded guilty to a charge of threatening behaviour. The offence took place at Hastings on June 25. He was fined £120 and the court made a restraining order.

Lenny Wright (aged 27), of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to stealing food items, worth £8 from Poundland at Priory Meadow, Hastings, on November 20. He also pleaded guilty to stealing wine, worth £16.98, from Tesco at Havelock Road, Hastings, on the same date. He was sentenced to a total of 13 weeks in prison. Magistrates said the reason for the custodial sentence was because he is a habitual offender.

Matthew Allen (aged 34), of Sedlescombe Gardens, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Focus, at Sedlescombe Gardens on September 29 with cannabis in his blood stream. He also pleaded guilty to being in possession of a quantity of cannabis resin on the same date. He was fined £125 and banned from driving for one year.

Craig Newell (aged 20), of Cumberland Road, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to driving a Vauxhall Corsa on Combe Valley Way, Hastings, on November 5 while over the drink drive limit. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 53 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. He was fined £175 and banned from driving until he has passed a test. His driving record was also endorsed with ten penalty points.

Declan Begley (aged 35), of Marina, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to stealing two pairs of shoes, worth £70, from Marks and Spencers at Priory Meadow, Hastings, on September 25. He was fined £120.

Leith Mohammed (aged 33), of Hollington Old Lane, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to two charges of stealing jeans, of an unknown value, from Marks and Spencers at Priory Meadow, Hastings. The offences took place on November 2 and 3. He was fined a total of £80 .

Nicholas Reed (aged 53), of Northridge, Northiam, pleaded guilty to driving a Cherokee Jeep on Northridge Road, at Northiam, while more than twice over the drink drive limit.

He gave a breath alcohol reading of 86 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. He was fined £200 and banned from driving for 20 months.

Abigail Akim (aged 46), of Jacobs Acre, Bexhill, pleaded guilty to a charge of aiding and abetting the use of a motor vehicle when there was no insurance in force, The offence took place on the A259 Marsh Road at Hooe on April 23. She was fined £163 and banned from driving for one year.

Kaylie Fischer (aged 28), of Welton Rise, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to being in possession of a stun gun.

The offence took place at Hastings on July 18. She also pleaded guilty to charges of being in possession of a quantity of cocaine and a quantity of cannabis on the same date. She was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison, suspended for one year. Magistrates also made a community order with a requirement of 100 hours of unpaid work. She was fined a total of £117 for the drugs offences.

Perry Leddy (aged 23), of School Lane, Peasmarsh, pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle on the A259, at Guestling, without due care and attention on May 1. He was fined £220 and his driving record was endorsed with six penalty points.

Kyle Smith (aged 26), of Berrycoombe Road, Bodmin, Cornwall, pleaded guilty to resisting a police officer. The offence took place at Hastings on October 22.

He also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to custody on November 9. He was given an 18 month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £50 in compensation.

November 25:

Nigel Thomson, of Bayham Road, Hailsham, pleaded guilty to using an expired Blue Badge on his vehicle. The offence took place at Hastings on October 17. He was fined £220 and ordered to pay £261 in costs.

Viorel Visoschi (aged 37), of Iasi, Romania, was fined £120 for driving a vehicle on the A21 at Johns Cross, on June 7, which exceeded its weight limit. The case was proved in his absence.

November 28:

Michael Jackson (aged 42), of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman by beating her. The offence took place at Hastings on August 31.

He also pleaded guilty to damaging reading glasses worth £200 on the same date and to being in breach of a 12 month conditional discharge, made by Brighton Magistrates on August 29 for being in breach of a restraining order.

In addition, he pleaded guilty to two charges of using threatening behaviour, at Grand Parade, Eastbourne, on September 4 and to using threatening and abusive behaviour at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, on September 23 and causing £200 damage to an external door, at Saltdean, Brighton, on September 23.

He was sentenced to ten weeks in prison, suspended for two years and magistrates made a community order with an alcohol treatment requirement.

They also ordered him to pay a total of £400 in compensation.

Lenny Wright (aged 27), of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to being in possession of a kitchen knife in a public place. The offence took place at Priory Meadow, Hastings, on November 20. He was sentenced to ten weeks in prison and ordered to pay £100 in prosecution costs.
