COURT RESULTS: Round-up of cases from 1066 Country

The following are court results for the Observer area from Hastings Magistrates' Court from September 14 - September 20.

September 14:

Andrew March, (aged 51), of Ghyllside Drive, Hastings, pleaded guilty to driving while unfit to drive through drugs. The offence took place at Quarry Road, Hastings, on June 17. He also pleaded guilty to being in possession of a quantity of amphetamine. The court made a community order with a drug rehabilitation requirement and a requirement of 80 hours of unpaid work. He was also banned from driving for 12 months.

Lewis McGrory (aged 20), pleaded guilty to driving a Renault Clio on Elphinstone Road, Hastings, without due care and attention by driving over the speed limit and overtaking vehicles in a careless manner. He also pleaded guilty to driving without insurance, driving without a licence and failing to stop for police. The court made a community order with a requirement of 60 hours of unpaid work and banned him from driving for six months.

Anthony Ripley (aged 38), of Battle Road, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to stealing tools worth £69.71 from MV Hardware and items worth £2, from KC Computers. The offences took place at Hastings on August 15. He was given a 12 month conditional discharge.

George Kendall (aged 22), of Springfield Drive, Rye, pleaded guilty to producing 22 cannabis plants. The offence took place at Rye on March 22. He was committed to Lewes Crown Court for sentencing.

Kelly Newman (aged 40), of Percy Road, Hastings, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. She also pleaded guilty to causing damage to a motorcycle. The offences took place at Frederick Road, Hastings, on June 21. The court made a community order with a requirement of 60 hours of unpaid work and ordered her to pay £200 compensation.

September 15:

Michelle Ganga (aged 53), of West Hill Road, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to driving while over the drink drive limit. The offence took place at Bexhill Road, St Leonards on June 29. He gave a breath alcohol reading of 48 microgrammes. The legal limit is 35mg. He also pleaded guilty to driving with cannabis in his blood stream, to driving with no insurance and to being in possession of a quantity of cannabis on the same date. He was fined a total of £440 and banned from driving for three years.

Nico Jones (aged 25), of Lovat Mead, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to using threatening behaviour and to causing £100 of damage to a window belonging to Orbit Housing Association. The offences took place at St Leonards on August 27. He was fined £100 and ordered to pay £100 in compensation. He was also fined £50 for failing to comply with the requirements of a community order.

September 20:

Roy Hyland (aged 18), of Emmanuel Road, Hastings, pleaded guilty to driving a Yamaha motorcycle on Victoria Road, Hastings, on July 25 with cannabis in his blood stream. He also pleaded guilty to being in possession of herbal cannabis. He was fined £80 and banned from driving for one year.

Daniel Dawson (aged 24), of Northampton Way, St Leonards, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. The offence took place at Robertson Street, Hastings, on May 24. He was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, suspended for one year, and ordered to pay £150 compensation. Magistrates described his behaviour as ‘truly atrocious’. They also made a community order with a requirement of 180 hours of unpaid work.

David Farrell (aged 47), of Ashdown Road, Bexhill, was found guilty of failing to ensure a Staffordshire bull terrier, he was responsible for, received an adequate diet. He was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison, suspended for two years. The court also made a community order with a requirement of 150 hours of unpaid work and ordered him to pay £300 in costs. He was disqualified from keeping any animal for five years. The case was proved in his absence.
