Cover band take South coast by storm

Covering artists such as the Foo Fighters, Nirvana, and Kasabian, the band received over one thousand hits on their MySpace page in the first month; with visitors to the sight listening to the five demo EP tracks and watching videos of the band performing.

The talents of the band include bass player Loz Humphries and drumming prodigy Gary Mills, who is tutored by a session drummer who performed on Kasabian's platinum selling dbut album.

Paying homage to the boys from Leicester, The Switch open their set with the Kasabian classic 'Club Foot' which Gary says his tutor finds strange to hear.

He said: "He can't get over it, he hears me play it on our demo and says, 'That's my drumming but it's you playing it!' He just can't get over how similar it sounds, which is a great compliment."

Joining gifted Gary in the line-up is guitarist and founding member Chris 'Peaceman' Peace who said the past year has been hard work for the band but they are beginning to reap the rewards.

He said: "It's taken a year of hard work and determination but I think you can hear the results. We are all perfectionists and we all have one aim, for our audiences to have a great night listening to awesome rock music, all in their favourite local."

Guitarist Dave Clarke said the high price of tickets to see original acts was partly what inspired the band to form The Switch.

He said: "This way you can hear your favourite bands in that great atmosphere you only get listening to them live, but without having to spend hundreds of pounds on tickets and getting to and from a stadium.

This is up front and in your face for the price of a pint in your favourite pub, just like live music should be."

Various venues along the South coast have already been snapping up the band for gigs, and vocalist Brett Turner from St Leonards on Sea said they hope to be performing in the local area before too long.

He said: "We'd love to perform in East Sussex '“ Hastings and the surrounding area have some great venues."
