30 motorists in Rye given speeding tickets in one day

A total of 30 motorists were given speeding tickets in a single day of police checks following complaints from local residents.

Residents have been complaining to the police about vehicles speeding through Rye, Broad Oak and Udimore.

One resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said motorcyclists have been speeding along the country roads, particularly as the lockdown restrictions have been easing.

Over the weekend, officers from Rother Police organised a check in the area.

In a single day, 32 tickets were issued, of which 30 were for speeding.

Afterwards, a spokesman for the force said: “We will continue to listen to community concerns and we will actively continue to do speed checks in these hot spot areas.”
