Arson attack on Hastings flat

Police are investigating an arson attack at a flat in Hastings yesterday (Sunday, April 4).

Petrol was poured through the letter box and ignited while the family inside were asleep.

Police said they were woken by the fire alarm and successfully put out the fire which did not cause major damage.

The incident happened in Quantock Gardens at about 5.45am.

Detective Sergeant Robin Mitchell-Davis said: “We are treating this as a deliberate though isolated attack, which could have had the most serious consequences, and want to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who has any other information.
