Two teenage girls were threatened at knifepoint by a man who tried to steal their bag in Bexhill this morning (Monday, 20 July).

The two 17-year-olds were approached by a man in the alleyway running between Piltdown Close and Beeching Road at 11am this morning.

He demanded one of the girl’s hand over her bag and pointed a knife at them.

The girl managed to hang on to her bag and the suspect ran back empty handed from the direction he had come down Piltdown Close and towards the gym in Little Common Road, close to the fire station.

The girls were scared but not harmed.

The man is described as white, aged 18 to 20, skinny, 5’ 7” to 5’ 8” with dark hair. He was wearing a dark blue hoody.

Detective Sergeant Lee Floyd said: “We would like to hear from any witnesses who may have seen the girls being followed from the direction of the gym and may also have seen the suspect.”
