Bomb squad carries out controlled explosion in Hastings
A controlled explosion has been carried out in Hastings after an unexploded munition was found at a house in the town.
Police said the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) was called to destroy the item in a field off the West Hill, Hastings.
The controlled explosion was carried out at around 8.20am on Monday (April 20).
Police said it followed a report made to Sussex Police on Sunday evening (April 19) of concerns for an unexploded munition at a house in the town.
The object was removed by the EOD and safely disposed of, a police spokesman said.
Police assisted with a cordon as a precaution.
