Four people in balaclavas enter Bexhill property during aggravated burglary
Police are appealing for witnesses following an aggravated burglary in Bexhill and another burglary in St Leonards.
Officers were called to King Offa Way around 10pm on Saturday (April 17) after four people wearing balaclavas entered a property with weapons, police said.
A coat was reported as stolen during the burglary, but police said no one was harmed.
Officers attended and carried out an area search but with no trace. While continuing their enquiries, a second report of a burglary was received at a property in Bohemia Road, St Leonards.
Police attended and arrested four people – two men nearby, and a man and a woman in a vehicle – on suspicion of aggravated burglary and burglary dwelling with intent to steal. A number of weapons were also found and seized by officers.
A fourth man, the fifth person in total, was arrested on Monday (April 19). All five were interviewed and have been released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.
Police investigating the matter would like to speak to anyone who witnessed either burglary, who saw any suspicious behaviour in the area or who may have any other information.
