Hastings man found not guilty of assault charges

A man has been found not guilty of three charges in relation to an assault on a woman in Hastings.

Police said James Robus, 31, of All Saints Crescent, was acquitted by a jury after it returned the not guilty verdicts following a week-long trial at Lewes Crown Court.

He had been charged with attempted robbery, wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm, and wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent, but was acquitted of all three.

The jury returned its verdict at Lewes Crown Court on Friday (December 11).

Police said the charges related to an assault around 9.30pm on December 27, 2019, in which a woman suffered serious facial injuries.
