Police appeal after man is robbed in Bexhill

Police are appealing for witnesses to a robbery on a footbridge in Bexhill.

A 20-year-old local man was walking across the bridge which connects Station Road to Endwell Road when he was approached from behind by an unknown man who demanded money, police said.

The incident occurred just after 4pm on Sunday (June 7), and there were several people in the area at the time, according to police.

The suspect made off from the scene having stolen the victim’s 9 carat gold chain necklace.

He is described as a white man in his 30s or 40s, about 6ft, of slim build, with light coloured shaved hair and slight stubble. Police said he wore a grubby looking white or grey T-shirt and light blue chino-style trousers.
