Carl Turner claims his racing green Dawes Galaxy hybrid bike was nicked from the side of his St Davids Avenue house while he was in the garden at around 8pm.

The dustman cycles to work in Hastings everyday, as well as using it for pleasure and to keep fit, but he can not do that now and is offering a reward for any information that leads to its return.

“I’m resigned to it being lost in a way but it was a really good bike, the best bike I’ve ever had, and it’s just frustrating,” he said.

Mr Turner was doing some DIY in the garden and had left the side gate open while he went back and forward.

He thinks someone took the chance to take the bicycle as another push bike was left nearby, and the two black and blue panniers were found on Springfield Road by a lampost.

“They came along and abandoned a bike they had been riding which was damaged, which has been given to the police, and took mine as far as I can make out as this other bike was there,” he said.

“Mine is quite an unusual bike, I’ve not seen many others around.”

Mr Turner said this is the sixth bicycle that has been stolen and believes he must be unluckiest cyclist in Bexhill.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or email [email protected].
