Cycle group plans a right Royal turn-out

NEXT month's Royal Wedding will be celebrated in style by Bexhill's Classic Cycle Group, whose members plan to dress themselves and their bicycles in patriotic colours and enjoy a sophisticated picnic on the seafront.

Starting at 2pm on Friday, April 29, the group will meet at the Cooden Beach Hotel before embarking on a ride around local towns and the seafront to visit street parties and other Royal-themed events.

At 4pm they aim to be at the Sackville Hotel on De La Warr Parade, Bexhill, to picnic on seafront lawns with strawberries and cream, Pimms, champagne and smoked salmon and cucumber sandwiches.

This weekend, at 3pm on Sunday, sees the group’s monthly, family-orientated Tweed and Tea ride around town, on period “jiggers” and wearing Edwardian costume, prior to refreshments at the Sovereign Light Cafe.

On Sunday, April 17 the group travels to the Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre near Arundel, West Sussex, to take part in an event promoting interest in all types of old cycles and cycling history.
