The highlight of the event will be the town’s attempt to reclaim the World Record for the Largest Charleston Dance.

Bexhill smashed the existing record at last year’s event, with 503 people shimmying their way into the record books.

But in October, the record was broken yet again, with 977 people dancing in the streets of Spitalfields in East London.

Debonnaire Entertainment will be leading the way as the people of Bexhill aim to reclaim their record.

The ladies choreographed last year’s world record attempt and have returned this year with a mission to get as many people involved as possible.

All those wanting to take part in the record attempt have to learn a simple set routine, which can be viewed at www.bexhillroaring20s.org.

Festival organisers have also planned Charleston workshops every half an hour from 10am on the day of the event, so there will be no excuse not to get involved.

Organiser Roger Crouch said: “It was such a great day last year for all those who took part in the record, now is your chance to join in and create a day to remember.

“A day of music and dance is planned as well as an emotional aerial display by the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain memorial flight Spitfire and Hurricane.”

The RAF Spitfire and Hurricane display will take place at 4pm and is being kindly sponsored by Alastair Hazell.

Other attractions on the day will include a children’s vintage fun fair and
Punch and Judy shows, vintage cars and a visit by
Sir Malcolm Campbell’s water speed record-breaking Blue Bird.

There will be a military band procession around town with prohibition stunt action in Devonshire Road at 12.15pm.

The Charleston world record attempt will follow at 1pm on the De La Warr Pavilion Terrace.

There will be dancing and music all day on the main stage on the lawns and a swing orchestra and entertainment on De La Warr Terrace.
