Bexhill couple Geoff and June Carey celebrated 60 years of marriage last Saturday with a family lunch at the Brickwall Hotel, in Sedlescombe, to mark their Diamond anniversary.
Geoff was a bomb aimer and navigator in the RAF and did a tour of 30 operations with his crew on 101 squadron based in Lincolnshire. June worked in an insurance company in London.
They met at a dance at the Norbury Hotel, London, where Geoff was MC for the local RAF association. They married at St Leonards church, Streatham, on October 8 1955.
Daughter Helen said: “Both suffer from macular degeneration but this has not affected them going out each day and joining various clubs and groups.
“Dad was honoured to be invited the unveiling of the bomber command memorial in Green Park in 2012 and a blind veterans centenary tea party at Buckingham Palace earlier this year. They received a congratulatory message from the Queen.”
