Engineering work on Hastings rail line

Monday and Tuesday evening services will continue to be disrupted throughout the Christmas period, as will Saturday services.

Southeastern released a new timetable yesterday (Sunday, December 13).

The service changes are being implemented to incorporate the opening of a new station in Rochester and work taking place on the rail infrastructure as part of the Thameslink programme.

The timetable will be in place over the Christmas and New Year period but Southeastern said there are also major engineering works taking place during this time.

There will be no Southeastern services into London Bridge, Cannon Street, Waterloo East and Charing Cross from Christmas Eve up until January 3.

“Instead, services will terminate at London Victoria, London Blackfriars or New Cross for 10 days over this period,” said a spokesman.

“Passengers are advised to check before they travel and allow more time for their journey.

“High speed trains will still run to St Pancras during this time except on Christmas day when no services run.

“A new December timetable is available on the Southeastern website and can be picked up from any Southeastern station.

“Southeastern advises all passengers to check out the new timetables in advance of the start date.”

A summary of the affected services is below:

Hastings Line Saturdays:

11.45pm Charing Cross to Hastings will start at 11.56pm and cease to call at Cannon St and London Bridge;

12.15am Charing Cross to Tunbridge Wells will cease to call at Cannon St and London Bridge and will run via New Beckenham.

Hastings Line long-term midweek engineering works:

Monday nights;

9.45pm, 10.45pm and 11.56pm Charing Cross to Hastings services will terminate at Tonbridge. A replacement bus will operate to Wadhurst where the train will restart to Hastings;

9.03pm, 9.33pm, 10.03pm, 10.33pm, 11.03pm and 11.33pm Cannon St to Tunbridge Wells and 12.15am Charing Cross to Tunbridge Wells will terminate at Tonbridge and a replacement bus will operate to Tunbridge Wells;

9.50pm Hastings to Charing Cross will terminate at Wadhurst. A replacement bus will operate to Tonbridge where the train will restart;

10.50pm Hastings to Tonbridge will terminate at Wadhurst and a replacement bus will operate to Tonbridge;

10.21pm Tunbridge Wells to Cannon St will start from Tonbridge at advertised time and a replacement bus will operate from Tunbridge Wells to Tonbridge starting earlier;

11.05pm Tunbridge Wells to Tonbridge is cancelled and a replacement bus will operate.

Tuesday nights;

9.45pm, 10.45pm and 11.56pm Charing Cross to Hastings services will terminate at Tunbridge Wells and a replacement bus will operate to Hastings;

9.50pm Hastings to Charing Cross will start from Tunbridge Wells. A replacement bus will operate from Hastings to Tunbridge Wells;

10.50pm Hastings to Tonbridge will start from Tunbridge Wells and a replacement bus will operate from Hastings to Tunbridge Wells.

Formation changes:

4.20pm Charing Cross to Hastings will be formed of a four-car 375 vice eight-car 377;

4.22pm Victoria to Ashford will be formed of eight-car 377 vice seven 375;

8.15pm Charing Cross to Hastings will be formed of eight 375 vice four 375.
