The popular Rye Country Show is widening its appeal to the whole district and will be donating funds to St Michael’s Hospice.

The show will be returning again this year, on Saturday August 13 under its new name of The Rye and District Show.

Jenny Yeo and her hardworking committee have chosen Elmtree Farm on the A259, at Icklesham, as the new venue for the event, which will still include horse and dog shows, classic cars, country crafts and much more.

Perdita Chamberlain, Head of Fundraising at St Michael’s Hospice said “We are absolutely delighted to learn the Rye and District Show committee have chosen St Michael’s Hospice, once again, as the event beneficiary.

“We look forward to working with the committee on what promises to be another fantastic day out for all the family.”

Chloe Dyas, from the hospice, said: “Lots of people are enquiring about the Rye Show already so we want to get the word out that it is supporting the hospice.”

The show has been taking place at Lea Barn Farm, Rye Foreign and nominated St Michael’s Hospice as its chosen charity last year.

The change of venue to Elm Tree, overlooking the Brede Valley, will make the show more accessible to those in Hastings and Bexhill.

The hugely popular Dog Show introduced new Obedience, Pedigree and fun classes. There is also a brand new challenging Gun Dog Scurry and an Agility Club will be offering the chance for visitors to have a go with their pets.

The famous Pimms and Beer Bar will be present along with a wide selection of food outlets.

A Country Living Marquee will have arts and crafts and local artisan produce and a range of stalls featuring many unique hand crafted items.

There will also be lots of family and children’s entertainment and off road parking at the day-long event.
