The proposal to extend the front and rear of the Cooden Beach Hotel will see the business gain five extra bedrooms as well as a larger function room.

The extension would also include a storage room for alcohol, which is currently housed in two shipping containers on site.

The planning application reads: “The scheme proposes a single storey extension to the front of the hotel providing extended function room and restaurant facilities.

“A proposed single storey rear extension, providing a secure storage room for alcoholic beverages serving the tavern and restaurant.

“This replaces two temporary shipping containers situated to the rear of the hotel which currently serve this purpose.

“A proposed first floor side extension providing four additional double bedrooms.

“It should be noted that one single bedroom will be lost to provide access to the extension, giving a total gain of three bedrooms on the first floor.

“At second floor level, two additional double bedrooms will be provided giving a net gain of five double bedrooms.

“This additional accommodation is vital in order to support the enlarged function facilities and enable our client to offer a more comprehensive package for both weddings and conferences.

“It is also proposed to provide a balcony at first floor level serving two existing bedrooms and two proposed bedrooms.”

A decision on whether to grant planning permission will be made by Rother at a later date.
