Christchurch Methodist Church at Bexhill celebrates its 27th annual Festival of Flowers at the weekend.

This year the theme will be ‘In praise of paper’ and the displays will reflect the many uses of paper including newspapers like this one, maps and books.

There is no admission to attend the festival but there will be an opportunity to make a donation to ‘Computers for Charities’, Methodist District Children’s Holidays and ongoing church projects.

Church treasurer Barry Turnwell said: “Last year almost 1,000 people visited the Festival and, once again, the members of the Church Ladies Supper Club are responsible for the weekend and all at the church are looking forward to another busy and successful occasion – and also helping charities with donations. Do come along – all are most welcome.

On Saturday and Monday 23rd and 25th May the Festival will be open from 10am – 4.30pm.

“In addition to the displays there will also be lunches and cream teas, stalls, competitions and live music in the church.”

Side stalls will include plant sales, bric-a-brac, books and home made cakes

On Sunday 24th special services will be held at 10.30pm and 6pm with the Festival open from 2pm – 4.30pm when cream teas will be served.

Christchurch Methodist Church, Bexhill is part of the Hastings, Bexhill and Rye Circuit, within the London South East District of the Methodist Church.

It is a family church. There is a main service every Sunday at 10.30am.

Members of the Junior Church join in for the first part, then go to their own special activities. Around 11.30 am everyone gathers together again for coffee in the hall.
