A Christmas fundraiser was held at the Cooden Beach Hotel to raise funds for St Michael’s Hospice.
It featured a variety of stalls with Christmas gifts and goodies giving shoppers a chance to get Christmas lists ticked off and come away with plenty of gift ideas. There was also a seasonal perfomance by the Rother Community Choir, conducted by Zach LeChemimant, with pianist Su Burgoyne.
Rother Community Choir, around 30 strong, was recently one of 15 local choirs which took part in a Singathon for the hospice and raised more than £500 through sponsorship of its members.
The Cooden Beach Hotel event was organised by Sally Beresford of St Michael’s Hospice who said: “I am very pleased - it was a really lovely day, the weather was good and so people came out.
“We had over 350 visitors who came along and we raised around £2,500 as well as having a substantial donation made to us on the day.
“We had the Rother Community Choir there which was greatl and having the choir there made quite a difference because people stopped to listen to them. It was a really nice festive day. And the Cooden Beach Hotel really looked after us.”
