Fierce footwork in dance workshop

St. Richard’s Catholic College held a workshop led by Trinity Laban’s Centre for Advanced Dance training.

This is a scheme to give young people with exceptional talent and potential the opportunity to take part in a training session which can lead to selection to attend Laban’s open day and an audition. It is a national programme funded by the Department of Education.

23 pupils, who are members of St. Richard’s dance company, took part and have now been invited to attend a further open day and audition for Laban’s Saturday school.

One year 9 pupil summed up the value of the workshop: “I really enjoyed it and it was really good to be challenged in a technical class. I am looking forward to taking part in Laban’s open day and audition.”

Rebecca Knight, dance teacher at St. Richard’s, said: ‘This was a fantastic opportunity for our dance company to work with professionals and participate in an advanced contemporary technique class. I am very proud that they have been asked to attend the audition day and congratulate them on their hard work.’
