A flood alert has been issued for Combe Haven, Powdermill and Watermill streams this afternoon (Sunday, January 3).

The Environment Agency issued the alert just after 3.40pm, saying: “Due to persistent rainfall the river has responded rapidly.

“Culverts and low lying land could become inundated adjacent to the river and minor impacts could be seen anywhere throughout the Combe catchment.

“Areas of particular concern at present are the recreation ground and gardens.

“The rain should clear east during this evening but unsettled weather is forecast for the start of the working week.

“Environment Agency teams are maintaining assets and monitoring the overall situation.”
