Flooding on the A259

FIREFIGHTERS were at work from early this morning clearing floodwater from the A259 trunk route at Little Common Road.

The heavy thunderstorm which hit the town shortly after 2am left a legacy of deep water across the width of the road at the low point just to the west of the Denbigh Bends.

Since drainage work reduced what had been regular flooding when water poured off the Down at times of heavy rain and onto the A259 by the Athletic Club, the new problem has arisen nearer Little Common.

Morning rush-hour traffic had to struggle through the water, throwing up curtains of spray.
