Fly-tipped oil drums

Do you know who dumped their old oil drums and builders waste in Little Common?

If so, the Environment Agency wants to hear from you as it appeals to members of the public for their help.

Along with the 25 litres drums of oil left at the site of the former petrol station in Cooden Sea Road were other fly-tipped items, including builders waste, car tyres and bin bags of household rubbish.

Some containers were dumped without their lids on and oil has spilled, contaminating the soil.

Environment Agency Officer Robert Cornell said: "This is a criminal offence and shows a complete disregard of pollution risk to the site and surrounding area which will be expensive and difficult to clean up.

"Anyone with information on the owner of the oil containers and the other waste can contact the Environment Agency in confidence on our freephone telephone No. 0800 80 70 60."
