Mike, Cheryl and Jay, formerly of Bucks Fizz, are set to headline Bexhill Carnival’s Party in the Park.

Anticipation is building with the Bexhill Town Carnival due to start tomorrow (July 18), running until Saturday, July 25.

Always one of the biggest events in the town’s calendar, this year looks to be no different with a great line-up of events already announced by organisers.

The Party in the Park on Friday, July 24 looks to be the most highly anticipated. Tickets for the party, the final event before the parade, were highly sought after with the original 5,000 on offer selling out.

The 80s pop group members Mike, Cheryl and Jay will be headlining, supported by the 1066 Rockitmen. The appearance of the trio who won the 1981 Eurovision Song Contest and have since sold in excess of 15 million records worldwide, is a great source of excitement for fans throughout the town.

A fireworks display is due to mark the finale to the festivities in the park.

Other highlights during carnival week 2015 include The Commando Fitness Challenge on Tuesday, the Dog Show on Wednesday and the famous fair, complete with rides and fairground fun, which will open from Tuesday evening onwards.

With a car boot sale, pram race and performance from the Flyball Dog Display team announced as further attractions, the week promises entertainment for all ages, and pets and owners alike.

The carnival procession itself will take place on Saturday, July 25.

Themed around Superheroes and Villains, expectations are high for more than 40 float entries from the community.

Families, community groups, churches and businesses will all be involved.

The carnival can be followed from Turkey Road to Brockley Road, with details of the route to be found on the Bexhill carnival website.

All carnival events are free to attend, unless entering as competitors, and all monies raised will go to the charity partners of the carnival.

This year’s charity partners are The Oliver Curd Trust, Senlac Scouts and Special Olympics Hastings and Rother.
