The developer, Mr J Steed, has already received outline planning permission to build on The Thorne, off Ninfield Road, after a successful appeal against Rother District Council’s rejection.

Now permission is sought for the access, appearance, landscaping, layout and scale of the development and the council’s planning committee will decide on Thursday (May 26).

Three objections were received by the council against the application to build the four four-bed houses on the field opposite Thorne Crescent.

Concerns included building on the north side of Ninfield Road and the access which was described as an ‘accident waiting to happen’.

Residents at the neighbouring ‘Garden House’ were worried about the proximity of the houses to them, but the officer’s reports said the buildings were ‘a sufficient distance’ away.

The report also says the development would be relatively suburban but would not be out of place nor detract from the character and appearance of the locality.
