The film is a joint collaboration between local arts charity, Shaping Voices and Parkinson’s UK; Bexhill, Hastings and Rother Branch.

Filmed in Hastings and Bexhill, the film follows the ParkinSongsters through practice sessions, interviews and concerts. Founded in 2010 the group helps those with Parkinson’s improve some of the debilitating side effects of the disease through the practice of voice exercises and singing.

ParkinSongsters have gone on to perform in many local venues to much acclaim and Shaping Voices Creative Director Jane Metcalfe says the project has been a rewarding time for all. “The film, funded by The Big Lottery, shows the courage and determination of people with this debilitating disease to stay as well and active for as long as possible,” she said.

Long-term member of the group, Julie White says she’s certain that if she hadn’t been singing with the ParkinSongsters for the last five years her condition would be much worse, adding: “And it is great fun too!”

The film launch is followed by a short concert ‘Songs of Love Life and Laughter’. Entry is free booking advisable. Email: [email protected] or call 07760 366367. www.parkinsongsters.co.uk
