French music event

What makes French music French? is the intriguing title of a lecture recital presented by Bexhill Choral Society on Friday June 12.

This will be delivered by internationally known conductor and composer Ken Roberts at St Martha's Church Hall in Cooden Sea Road, Little Common, at 7.30pm.

Ken, the well known Music Director of Bexhill Choral Society, Opera South East and The Sussex Chamber Orchestra, has conducted at many prestigious venues, including the Royal Albert Hall and The Festival Hall.

His Harpsichord Concerto has recently been premiered and recorded.

A highly accomplished pianist, Ken will be playing the music of Debussy, Ravel, Faure, Satie and Poulenc, in order to demonstrate what it is that gives French music that elusive, sensual quality which pervades so much of French culture and lifestyle.

Sue Wright, Chairman of Bexhill Choral Society says, "Ken's lecture recitals are known to be very entertaining and informative, and this is going to be an extremely enjoyable evening not to be missed."

Tickets are 7.00, available from Second Spin, 14 Sackville Road, Bexhill (01 424 210894), choir members or at the door.
