Friends of Surestart raise £1,500 for sensory room

THE NEW sensory room at Sidley community centre has received a boost to its funds and can buy more equipment thanks to the Friends of Surestart (FOSS) who presented them with a cheque for £1,500.

To raise the money FOSS held a number of local events including two quiz nights, a family disco and a teddy bears picnic. The group also keep children entertained with face painting at local fêtes, charity and SureStart Children Centre events.

Committee member Pili Lucas said all members of FOSS are volunteers from the local community who give as much or as little time as they can spare and the sensory room is their chosen charity of the year adding: “The sensory room is designed for children and adults with learning difficulties to stimulate their senses and we thank the community for supporting our events and helping us to raise this money.”
