Get hot for St Michaels

WILL you be hoot-footing to the big firewalk tonight (April 4)?

The spectacular challenge takes place at Hastings United Football Club in Elphinstone Road.

Even if you haven't registered for the St Michael's Hospice glass and firewalk challenge you can still enjoy the entertainment of watching others conquer their fear.

The event takes place at the Hastings United Football Club ground in Elphinstone Road and organisers are hoping for a fun evening.

There will be entertainment, such as drumming and face-painting, and refreshments during the evening which starts with the first brave souls on the glasswalk at 6.15pm.

They deserve to be cheered every step of the way.

Betty Popplett, celebrating her 80th birthday on April 25, will do the firewalk for the first time.

Betty has raised sponsorship for the event and said: "I am nervous but we get this two hour training beforehand - it will give us plenty of confidence.

"Once you have had this training you feel you can do just anything ... and after all it will only take a few seconds to walk across."

More than 40 people have registered to take part in the firewalk which begins at 9pm. At least five people have put their names down to do both events.
