The young – and young at heart – are invited to get stuck in to the fifth Crawley WORDfest.

The Get Stuck In Day will be held at Crawley Library, Southgate Avenue, on Saturday April 25 and will include creative workshops, Minecraft sessions and visits from children’s authors.

WORDfest has helped to instil a love of literature in people of all ages – and not just through reading.

Edible poetry will be among the sessions on offer during the Get Stuck In Day, as well as story telling and a performance of Big Goldilocks and the Three Bears by the Booster Cushion Theatre team.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy graphic novel and comic book workshops and learn how to write computer games.

Marianne Lindfield, creative director of WORDfest, said: “One of Crawley WORDfest’s founding principles is to help nurture a love of the written word among local children and young people.

“So this year, the organising committee has developed the Get Stuck in Day, which features events and activities for people age three and up.

“There are many ways to connect with writing and books – from more traditional storytelling and learning how graphic novels and comic strips are put together, to engaging with the often complex narrative of computer games such as Minecraft.

“At WORDfest, we recognise that reading is just one way to consume stories.”

The Get Stuck In Day will be free and will run from 11am-4pm.
