Getting ready for their Grand Draw

Bexhill Caring Community every year at Christmas helps approximately 200 residents of all ages in town by donating food hampers.

The charity gives to those who have little as well as giving plants to the recently bereaved. For some people these are the only gifts they receive.

BCC manager Jackie Haggerty said: “We have been donated a wonderful array of goods over the last few weeks that will be packed into hampers this week and given along with a Sainsbury’s voucher for fresh produce.

In order to fund this campaign, the Charity is holding a grand draw and tickets can be purchased from Bexhill Caring Community at 25 Sackville Road at £1 for a book of four. 1st prize is £100, 2nd prize £50, 3rd prize £25 with numerous other prizes to be won. The draw will be take place on Tuesday December 15 at 11am in The Bagnall Room with mince pies and a glass of punch or tea or coffee being served from 10.30-12.30pm. Everyone is welcome to join us so please come along.”

This year Bexhill Caring Community celebrated their 50th anniversary and at present helps about 5,000 people in town through its many services, relying totally on donations, legacies and fundraising in order to provide the assistance required by so many. The team on Thursday began the task of putting hampers together and as thrilled with the amount of food donated by members of the public.

Manager Jackie Haggerty said: “We are just chockablock with food - we are really impressed. We have been overwhelmed with the kindness of the folk of Bexhill.”
