Glyne Gap students fundraiser for hospice

It's not every coffee morning that includes the gratifying spectacle of a grown man having his legs waxed for charity.

But it happened at Bexhill College when Glyne Gap's older students organised a fundraising event for St Michael's Hospice.

It was also a chance for them to pay tribute to a much-missed friend who spent the last two weeks of her life at the hospice.

Head of Glyne Gap Faculty at Bexhill College Marilyn Jackson said: "This is a very special occasion for us. We are raising money for St Michael's Hospice in remembrance of Natalie Boutell who was a student here from September 2004 until her death on March 31 in the hospice. She was a much loved student who is missed by us all."

Natalie's family members attended the coffee morning, including her mother Margaret.

The Glyne Gap sixth-form students who helped run the event on Wednesday were supported by youngsters from the main school as well as parents, family, and other youngsters from Bexhill College.

The plucky victim for leg-waxing was teaching assistant Chris Jenner - the honours done by beauty therapist Sarah from Downtown salon in Devonshire Road. Chris was described beforehand as "wary" and "a bit nervous".
