Golf day putts £4kinto local charity...

The Golf Day, held on Monday October 3, welcomed 92 golfers keen to go a fairway to raising as much cash as possible for for St Michael’s hospice which is based in St Leonards On Sea.

Felicity James, Community Fundraiser at the hospice, which last year supported 1,288 in-patients, says the event was a great success. “Participants were welcomed with glorious sunshine, bacon sandwiches and coffee to set them up for the 18 hole course,” she said.

“With a successful shotgun start, the teams competitively worked their way through the course in the hope of being the overall champion (Stableford scoring).”

Teams of keen golfers, many of whom had personal experience of St Michael’s hospice, took the fundraising challenge with gusto and Felicity says the results were outstanding.

“We are delighted to announce, with thanks to all of our golfers, Cooden Beach Golf Club and sponsors, the proceeds of the event total to over £4,000.

“This amount will help us continue to provide specialist palliative care to the residents of Hastings and Rother.

“We would like to congratulate the winners of the day ‘United Friends Golf’, who put in a sterling performance.

“Everyone had a brilliant day which was finished off with a delicious two course meal and raffle.”

The next Golf Day in aid of St Michael’s hospice will be held at the Dale Hill Golf Club, Ticehurst on Friday June 9, 2017.
