Preparations are now complete for the Little Common

Summer Fayre which takes place in the grounds of The Wheatsheaf Inn on Saturday July 11.

The stage is set for some great live music all afternoon and into the evening from a long line-up of local bands and performers.

Organised by the Little Common and Cooden Business Association, this year’s event promises visitors more to do, see, eat, buy, and win, which all adds up to a fun day for all ages.

Lynn Adair said: “Among the attractions this year will be family favourite Charlie The Clown who will keep children and adults entertained during the afternoon.

“There will be new games this year, such as children’s archery, disk drop, spin the wheel plus all the favourites including tombola, hoopla, human fruit machine, bowling for a pig, splat the rat, coconut shy and much, much more.

“Back by public demand is our Lucky Numbers Prize Draw with a top prize of £200 to spend locally with some of Little Common’s independent businesses who are members of the Association. Tickets are just £1 and on sale at the Fayre.”

Other attractions include local crafters, organisations and traders selling a wide range of goods or demonstrating their skills.

There will be a bouncy castle for the under 10’s.

New for this year is a hog roast and BBQ, and also available are cream teas, ice cream, plus a fully licensed bar.

The live entertainment will showcase local bands, and Whetsheaf landlord Andy Franks said: “The pub is carrying on the music into the evening and again on Sunday as part of our Beer Festival Weekend.”

Gates open from 2.30pm and admission is by programme, available on the day at 50p each.

Lynn Adair added: “During the year, the Business Association works hard to promote the great range of independent shops and businesses as well as making the village as attractive and welcoming as possible. Funds raised contribute to the beautiful floral displays in the village as well as the Christmas tree and lights.”
