Greg's visit to Dorset

TOWN MP Gregory Barker has made a return visit to Poundbury, the Dorset village development built by the Prince of Wales, five years after going there with a team from Bexhill.

Mr Barker returned as a personal guest of the Prince of Wales to see how well the project had grown.

He was joined on the visit by senior members of the Prince's Foundation for the Built Environment, who presented their ideas on how they might help in the development of North Bexhill to local councillors and interested Bexhill residents back in May.

Mr Barker said: "The Prince's Foundation is streets ahead when it comes to creating the sort of new developments people actually want to live in and which both help build real communities and also reflect the character of the area. I was intrigued to see how well Poundbury has grown.

"It now not only provides a healthy mix of both social and private housing and supports thriving shops and local facilities but there are now firms based there which directly employ over 1,000 people.

"It's a real success and I hope Bexhill can benefit from a similar model."
