Halloween kids run amok

FIREWORK-throwing youths "ran amok" in Sidley on Halloween.

Police who intervened later warned that throwing lighted fireworks under motor vehicles is extremely dangerous.

Bexhill Neighbourhood Policing team commander Inspector Martin Mann said on Wednesday: "Halloween last night passed off extremely quietly in the town as a whole.

"However, in Sidley there was a problem. We had a number of calls about trick-or-treat nuisance and firework-throwing.

"The were people running amok, throwing fireworks under cars - which is extremely dangerous.

"I am sure they are aware that it is an offence to throw a firework in the street at any time and an offence to discharge a firework at all after 11pm.

"From 9pm until after midnight there were people running amok.

"At one stage there were 15 to 20 and then we had reports of as many as 40 running through people's gardens and banging on doors and throwing fireworks.

"They did a 'starburst' (disbursed in every direction) when we got there. A few were stopped and advised about their behaviour and others ran away from police officer.

"One person has reported damage to their fence and garden pots."
