Hard task for Stuart............

There were so many Easter bonnets on parade at Thornwood that Stuart Earl didn't know where to begin with judging. There were more than 30 hats in the competition so it seemed only fair to divide them into categories before choosing a winner - although everyone who took part was awarded a small chocolate egg.

Thornwood manager Anne Freeman said: "It is an event that we set up last month. We got all service users in the day centre to make an Easter bonnet.

"It is an annual thing we do, but extra special this year because we are closing. So we had quite a few hats made - also some people from the rehab unit came down and made some hats, and the staff all joined in, and we made it quite a day.

"It was wonderful. We had a rainbow of colour and hats, all to do with spring.

"We had novelty hats, pretty ones - it was really good. The day centre was completely full and people were all wearing hats - all their own craftwork."
