Hastings & Rother Family History Society

The Brassey family have left their mark in Hastings with a fine collection of artefacts gathered during their world travels. But not quite so much is known about the railway builder, Thomas Brassey who, with Isambard Brunel, was responsible for the development of railways across the Country. David Jones presented a fascinating expose of Thomas Brassey’s private life at our last meeting. This month’s meeting will be on Wednesday 9th December when Dr Keith Foord present, “Winchelsea’s Historic Methodist Chapel”. Anyone with links to Winchelsea will especially appreciate this talk. As this is the last meeting of the year, the evening will be rounded off with a Christmas Celebration. It all starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Ore Community Centre, Ore Village, Old London Road, Hastings.

Non-members always welcome to our informal monthly meetings 2nd Wednesday of every month, 7:30 pm, when you can hear excellent guest speakers on a wide range of local history subjects.
