Homecall campaign

A campaign has been launched to save Homecall, the East Sussex charity which provides home services for the blind.

Despite winning a Queen's Award for Voluntary Service in 2006, Homecall has announced it must end on September 30 because East Sussex County Council withdrew vital funding.

Now the charity's Bexhill organiser Jenny Private is campaigning to raise 15,000

which will enable her to keep the local team of 59 volunteers carrying out their work.

She has submitted an application for The Rotary Club of Bexhill Sponsored Walk on June 8 and 19 participants have put their name down for it so far - any sponsors supporting Homecall would be "most welcome".

Jenny has also applied for support from the Park Lane Group which is running the 5,000 Giveaway through the Observer Group.

Anyone interested in helping Jenny Private with the appeal can contact her at 149 Peartree Lane, Bexhill TN39 4NR, or ring 01424 848365.
