HOTEL COULD BOOST TOWN REGENERATION

ANY proposal for the future of the closed Grand Hotel which would boost regeneration would be supported, Bexhill Town Centre And Tourism Action Group says.

Speaking ahead of Thursday's launch of the Bexhill Business Initiative, action group chairman Steve Ayres said today that though doubts may continue over the future of the Grand, the future of the town centre is not in doubt.

Mr Ayres has visited the Grand, where film company Globocine are shooting the feature film The Only Hotel.

Globocine's arrival at the Grand has focussed attention on its future. The owners, Princess Hotels Management, want to re-develop with a block of flats.

Steve Ayres said Thursday's business initiative launch would signal the group's intention to revitalise the town centre.

The group's business plan has been approved by Rother council with funding of almost 400,000 over a three-year period.
