HS1 benefits to 1066 country set to be revealed

A report on the potential economic benefits of bringing high speed rail to 1066 country will be presented to the public on Friday, October 9.

Consultants from firm Mott MacDonald will explain the impact the HS1 scheme could have on the area, which would extend Javelin trains from St Pancras International to Bexhill via Hastings and Ashford.

The company was commissioned by East Sussex County Council, Hastings Borough Council and Rother District Council to compile the report.

Bexhill and Battle MP Huw Merriman will chair the meeting which businessmen, community leaders and the public are invited to.

The meeting will be held at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill at 8am for 8.30am.
