An appeal has been launched to catch fly-tippers who left a trail of rubbish along a five-mile stretch of country lane near Bexhill.
The waste dumped at the roadside included around 50 bags containing material such as soil and bricks, slate tiles, sinks, carpets, mattresses – and even a window unit.
The fly-tipping discovered by Rother District Council on Monday stretched from Coneyburrow Lane to Straight Lane, north west of Bexhill.
The council is asking anyone who has information about the thoughtless act to come forward so action can be taken against the perpetrators.
Most of the waste was contained in branded plastic Alsford Timber bags, although there is no suggestion that company was in any way involved.
Anyone with information call the Environmental Crime Team 01424 787000.
