Olympic ice skater Jayne Torvill officially opened Newton & Frost’s new Timber Building Display Centre at Merriments Garden Centre, Hurst Green, on Good Friday.
Jayne is patron of the youth charity Heathfield Works, which aims to help youngsters make the transition from education to the workplace.
Students from the charity have assisted with the development of Newton & Frost’s small timber village of stunning summerhouses, sheds, Wendy Houses and equestrian buildings.
Sally Frost, Director of Newton & Frost, said: “Merriments has a lovely, friendly feel about it. Everything about it feels cherished which makes visitors feel special.
We are very privileged to be here and were delighted to welcome Jayne to launch the new centre.” Newton & Frost was founded in 1979 and has a busy working yard at Horam, near Heathfield, East Sussex from which fencing products and accessories are sold to the trade and general public.
