It's pastures new for minister as family gives fond farewell

THE much-loved minister of Beulah Baptist Church will be heading for pastures new on Sunday.

Rev Ed Jones, together with his wife Emma, came to Beulah straight from theological college on September 12, 2004, and both have developed a strong partnership within the leadership team.

Although Ed is comfortable pastoring all age groups, his special gift with children was recognised at an early stage of his ministry, and under his guidance the work has grown over the past five years.

In addition to normal Sunday and weekday activities, Ed has been responsible for programming and scripting Holiday Adventure Clubs during the August school holidays, to which some 100 youngsters have attended each year.

Gerald Philpott, assistant church secretary, said: "Not only will Ed be missed by Beulah, but also by the majority of local primary schools, with whom he has developed a good relationship, taking assemblies, setting up lunchtime club and helping in some classwork.

"Ed has been invited to become executive director to Arise Ministries, a new and exciting national children's work, with the aim to building strong contacts with primary schools and children's organisations bringing an awareness of the love of Jesus into children's lives.

"Ed is, and has always been, strongly and lovingly supported by his wife Emma, who, with their two children Ewan and Evie, look forward to the new challenge in their lives."
