Rumours are spreading of a new ‘spin off’ of the hit show, featuring recently axed host Jeremy Clarkson, that could be based at Goodwood.

The news has come from DJ Chris Evans on his BBC Radio 2 show this morning, where the car-enthusiast spoke about the rumours and apparently said ‘something top secret’ was happening at the world-famous motor circuit today, Thursday, April 30.

The controversial Clarkson was axed by the BBC last month after being involved in a fracas with a producer on the show.

Since then there has been wild internet speculation of a ‘new’ Top Gear, featuring Clarkson and possibly co-hosts James May and Richard Hammond, which would be broadcast outside the BBC.

A petition to reinstate the outspoken 54-year-old received thousands of signatures.

People are also speculating as to who will take over as host on the BBC show, with Jodie Kidd amongst those mooted.
