Join Ramblers for festive walk

This week, The Ramblers' Association is urging everyone off the sofa to join hundreds of walkers across the region.

It is the second week of the record-breaking Festival of Winter Walks 2008, lasting from Boxing Day until January 4.

The Nature Valley sponsored festival - now celebrating its 20th year - is Britain's largest walking event, and has seen over 200 fun free walks take place across the South East during the event.

The walks are tailored to suit all ages and abilities. Many are themed and family friendly and all are a perfect way to get out, make new friends and kickstart the New Year.

This year the Festival is supported by TV presenter and keen walker Ben Fogle.

Ben Fogle comments: "Walking is a perfect way to escape and unwind after a hectic Christmas. There are thousands of beautiful routes around the country; what better way to introduce yourself to the delights of walking than stepping out in the crisp air of a winter's day on a free, festive Winter Walks stroll?"

Visit www.ramblers.org.uk/winterwalks for details of walks in your area, turn up, and enjoy the stroll.
