JULIA Northcott is taking over the reins from John Dowling at the Bexhill Observer.

From 2005, Julia ran the subs' desk at the Eastbourne Herald and Gazette as chief sub-editor, and has taken over as deputy editor at the Bexhill Observer this month after divisional reorganisation within Johnston Press.

Julia, 32, said, "This has all been a bit of a roller coaster but I am looking forward to settling in here and doing the best I can for this publication."
