Kids go free

Youngsters can get out of the house and burn off some steam over the Christmas period at 1066 Battle of Hastings Abbey and Battlefield, with a special kids go free offer from English Heritage.

Children under 16 accompanied by an adult (maximum 6 children per adult) receive free entry to the fascinating site every day during the Christmas holiday week (December 27'“31).

There is plenty to see at the abbey including audio walks of the battlefield to help burn off Christmas calories! Youngsters can also enjoy a fun, activity-based 1066 exhibition in the Discovery Centre - 'The Prelude to Battle' '“ which offers a glimpse of events leading up to the Conquest.

In the medieval times at Battle Abbey, Christmas games included "King of the Bean," where a small bean would be baked inside bread or cake, and the one who found it would be crowned king of the holiday feast.
