With the worry of snow showers and the dread that nobody would turn up the new Ladies Friendship Club were delighted that 35 ladies braved the bitterly cold day to join our new club.
Our caretaker committee was introduced and Brenda gave a financial report. We have received two good donations which together with other ‘fund raising’ has given us a good start. Our subscription is £18. and £2. for visitors.
Unfortunately our speaker had been taken poorly and could not come so we enjoyed a home entertainments afternoon with a poetry reading about a Sat Nav. (a Wife) from Evelyn, an amusing story from Brenda about a lady purchasing a property abroad and could not recall seeing a w.c.. Ann gave a short talk about the Gambia and we enjoyed two quizzes prepared by Sheila.
We meet on the first Wednesday in the month at the Little Common Community Centre, 1.45 for 2.00 p.m. Our speaker in March will be Mrs. Ruth Tomkins from Admiral Nurses talking about their work with Dementia patients. There is a Tea Club and a Luncheon Club for members who wish to participate.
Anyone wishing to come along will be made most welcome for more information phone Dorothy Adams 844831.
